Business and Technology Reporting Internship - Boston

American Graphics Institute offers a summer business and technology reporting internship for undergraduate and graduate journalism students. Interns cover technology and business news that relates to publishing, marketing, advertising, and media. We look for journalism students who have a solid foundation in writing and communication, and upon completion of the internship program will have a more comprehensive portfolio along with new skills gained through the summer program. This is a paid internship, with a pay rate of $700 per week. The internship runs from mid-June through mid-August. The term ranges from 8 to 10 weeks depending upon the academic schedule of the participant.

Interns will:
 
  • Work on assignments as well as have opportunities to pitch stories.
  • Provide short-form and long-form writing.
  • Deliver stories on deadline.
  • Collaborate with editors and other subject matter experts.
  • Arrive at the start of the program with clear, proficient writing skills.
  • Present themselves professionally.
  • Participate in professional development with employer-paid courses on the use of tools such as InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, and Final Cut.

Internship Qualifications

The business and technology reporting interns are expected to have excellent writing skills along with strong communication skills. The ability to prioritize multiple assignments, adapt to new projects, and work calmly under deadlines are also essential to success in this role. We seek participants who are familiar with Internet research and being able to build big-picture stories for our audience.

Skills with HTML, CSS, and data visualization tools are helpful but not required. Most successful applicants are at least at the mid-point in their undergraduate career.
