How to learn PowerPoint

How to learn PowerPoint

by Jennifer Smith

Learning how to use PowerPoint can create many opportunities for you professionally. There are a number of options for learning PowerPoint, including in-person classes, online classes, books, and self-paced tutorials. Private training courses are also available for groups.

Learning PowerPoint with in-person training classes

You can learn PowerPoint with in-person training classes in a classroom with a live instructor. For example,  American Graphics Institute offers an in-person PowerPoint Training class for those who prefer hands-on learning in a classroom. This class is held in their Boston location, with a computer, curriculum, and the app provided - all you need to do is bring yourself.

AGI prides itself on maintaining small class sizes for its in-person courses. This is a significant advantage for learners, as it ensures personalized attention from instructors, making it easier to grasp the material and ask questions as needed. Class attendees receive personalized feedback, and gain skills as they work on projects with instructors who have real-world experience in using PowerPoint effectively.

Learning PowerPoint Online

If you can’t attend an in-person class, or don’t want to travel to a classroom, there are many online PowerPoint courses that are effective ways to learn. Live online classes can provide an interactive class where you can also talk to the instructor, see their screen, and share your screen if you have questions. Look for classes with small class sizes to be able to get questions answered. AGI limits class sizes to 10 students, which is half the size of many other live online classes.

To enroll in an online PowerPoint course, you will want PowerPoint downloaded onto your computer or a subscription to Office 365 so that you can participate in projects and exercises during the course., working hands-on within PowerPoint

Private PowerPoint courses

Another way to learn PowerPoint is through a private course. You can receive individualized, personal training working one-on-one with an instructor, or have an instructor work only with your group. Private PowerPoint classes can take place in a classroom, online, or at your office with an instructor that travels to your location.

Online tutorials

You can also learn some basic PowerPoint skills with online tutorials that provide the very basics of how to get started using PowerPoint. While not a complete training, these tutorials can get you started.

Learning to use PowerPoint effectively is a valuable skill. Whether you prefer in-person classes, an online course, or a private training session, there are many training options from which you can choose.
