AI Project

The AI Project course is the capstone of the AI Certificate program, where students bring together everything they have learned to solve a real business problem from start to finish. Rather than working through isolated exercises, participants take on a complete project: identifying a business challenge, selecting the right AI tools for the task, building a working solution, and presenting the results. This hands-on course mirrors the way AI work happens in a professional setting, giving you a portfolio-ready deliverable that demonstrates your capabilities to your current or future employer. The project includes:

Scoping the Business Problem

Students begin by scoping a business problem and defining clear objectives and success criteria. Working with guidance from a live instructor, they learn to frame the problem in a way that AI can meaningfully address, an essential skill that often determines whether an AI solution succeeds or fails. From there, participants choose among the tools covered throughout the certificate program, including Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini Advanced, and Excel Copilot, matching each tool to the stage of the workflow where it adds the most value.

Building the Solution

Over the course of the project, students design prompts, automate repetitive steps, analyze data, generate content, and where appropriate build custom agents or reusable templates. They also learn to validate and refine AI outputs, fact-checking results and applying human judgment to ensure accuracy, quality, and responsible use. Throughout the process, participants document their approach, the decisions they made, and the trade-offs they considered.

Presenting Results 

The project includes creating a finished solution along with a documenting the solution. This includes explaining the problem, the approach, and the measurable impact, such as time saved, accuracy improved, or work accelerated. By demonstrating return on investment and communicating results to stakeholders, you leave the course able to show not just that youcan use AI tools, but that they can apply them to create real value for an organization.

What You Will Learn

By the end of the AI Project course, students will be able to scope and define a business problem suited to an AI solution; select and combine the right AI tools for each stage of a workflow; build a working, end-to-end solution that solves a real business challenge; validate, fact-check, and refine AI outputs for accuracy and responsible use; measure outcomes and demonstrate ROI to stakeholders; and document a completed AI project for a professional audience.
