Boston is a great place for user experience professionals, as there is a large community of supportive professionals, and there are many UX events in Boston every month. Whether you are looking for a professional networking event, or to learn something at an educational seminar covering the latest advancements in UX, you’ll find many opportunities in and around Boston.
UX Classes and Workshops in Boston
There are UX classes and workshops at American Graphics Institute, located just outside of Boston. These range from two-day UX courses to multi-week UX certificate programs. The Introduction to UX Design Principles course is a great place to start your UX education. If you want a full-fledged master’s degree program, Bentley University, also in suburban Boston, offers a Master’s degree in Human Factors, which includes many topics relevant for those involved in user experience design.
Professional UX Events in Boston
The User Experience Professionals Association’s Boston chapter, also known as UXPA Boston, hosts many networking activities along with workshops and other UX events for professionals and those considering entering the field. Many of these are held at area companies, and range from afternoon or evening seminars, to all-day events. If you work in Boston in a UX related role, you should consider joining UXPA and the Boston chapter.
Boston UX Conference
The UXPA in Boston also puts on a large event once per year where you can learn from many user experience professionals on a variety of topics. The UXPA Boston conference brings together more than 1,000 professionals and nearly 50 different sessions covering everything that impacts user experience. While many of the speakers are from the Boston area, the 2014 conference included speakers from as far away as California.

Jennifer delivers UX training and UX consulting for large Fortune 100 companies, small start-ups, and independent software vendors. She has been hired by Adobe and Microsoft to deliver training workshops to their staff, and has traveled to Asia, Europe, India, the Middle East, and across the U.S. to deliver courses and assist on UX design projects. She has extensive knowledge of modern Windows UX Design, having worked closely with the Windows team to create educational material and deliver UX workshops to key partners globally on behalf of Microsoft. Jennifer works with a wide range of prototyping tools including Fireworks, Photoshop, Illustrator, Blend for Visual Studio, and Balsamiq.
