New York City has a large and active user experience community, filled with opportunities for networking and learning more about user experience. You can participate in different UX events in New York City such as classes, workshops, seminars, conferences, informal meetups, and even award events. Whether you are a dedicated UX professional or work in a related role as a designers, developers, business analysts, or product manager, there are many opportunities to meet others who work in UX related fields in and around NYC.
What types of UX events occur in NYC?
UX training events are plentiful in the NYC area. These events include UX workshops and courses in NYC such as those offered at American Graphics Institute, including the Introduction to UX Design Principles course. Longer-term UX training programs at places such as General Assembly are also an option if you are looking for a full-time training program. There are meetup groups specifically geared to people interested in UX design like the NYC CHI, which is the largest and oldest UX group in New York; NYC Uncubed, designed to connect creators in tech, business and design with companies; and NYC UX Acrobatics, a group based on developing flexibility, mental agility and coordination to balance project objectives and scope while creating effective user experiences.
There are also the UX Awards, which is dubbed “the premier global awards for exceptional digital experience,” and monthly UX workshops given by the New York City User Experience Professionals Association (UXPA), and the yearly UX Sketch Camp NYC, which brings together UX professionals, designers, developers and entrepreneurs for a one-day event focused on applying sketching principles to improve user experience design. This is an interesting event, as it is designed to help you make better business decisions all through one of our favorite UX principles: sketching.
With so many UX events in NYC, you have a near endless set of opportunities to expand your skills and network with others working in the user experience field.
