Premiere Pro certification and certificates

Premiere Pro certification and certificates

by Chris Smith

If you are interested in pursuing a career in video editing, you can earn a Premiere Pro certification or certificate to demonstrate your proficiency which also showcases your commitment to learning.

Premiere Pro certifications vs. certificates: understanding the differences

You can earn a Premiere Pro certificate by taking a stand-alone course, or by attending a course as part of a long-term video editing program. These certificates can be used to

demonstrate your experience working with Premiere Pro and your ability to execute specific video editing skills, such as color correction, masking, and integration with other Adobe Creative Cloud applications like Photoshop and After Effects. For example, students that complete Premiere Pro courses at the American Graphics Institute (AGI) earn a certificate of completion.

Premiere Pro certifications are earned by passing an exam created by a third-party exam company, Certiport. The exam is designed to assess skills required to use the application. Most employers do not require a Premiere Pro certification, they typically find formal schooling, a portfolio of work, and certificates of completion from a reputable school like AGI to be sufficient in demonstrating skills and capabilities. You can prepare for the exam with Premiere Pro certification training.

Best Premiere Pro certifications and certificates

For those looking for an efficient and cost-effective way to earn a certificate relating to video editing, AGI offers introductory and advanced Premiere Pro courses, as well as an in-depth Premiere Pro bootcamp. Each course can be completed in less than a week and comes with a certificate. Whether you enroll in an online or in-person course with AGI, you get to learn from experienced instructors who have been teaching Premiere Pro for over a decade.

AGI also offers a rigorous video editing certificate program that includes seven courses on Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and digital imaging. This program covers the skills necessary to pursue a career in video editing, from introductory concepts like continuity editing to more advanced techniques like compositing. Certificate program participants also have access to a career counselor to assist with job placement.

Is Premiere Pro certification required

Although obtaining a Premiere Pro certificate or certification is beneficial, it is not a formal requirement for aspiring video editors. Those who invest time and effort into earning these credentials can learn specialized video editing skills, offer additional services, and are seen as a reliable resource by those looking to hire video editors.

If you earn a Premiere Pro certificate or certification, you can list this qualification on resumes, job applications, LinkedIn profiles, work portfolios, and personal websites. This helps you to stand out from other candidates and demonstrate your knowledge of the application. This is a particularly valuable strategy for freelancers who want to attract clients in need of video editing services. Anyone who earns a Premiere Pro certification or certificate by completing a course that teaches specialized skills, such as masking and color correction, can also provide a wider range of services.

Why earn a Premiere Pro certificate

Earning a Premiere Pro certificate shows you have the skills to create high-quality videos that incorporate motion graphics, layers, and visual media from other Adobe Creative Cloud applications, as well as the ability to pursue a career in video editing.

With practice and dedication, you can use your Premiere Pro certificate to pursue a number of career paths, including full-time video editor roles and freelance work. Those who are well-versed in Premiere Pro can also apply to work as sound designers, colorists, visual effects artists, and other video editing roles that require specialized skills. The number of video editing jobs is expected to grow 12% by 2031, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, placing Premiere Pro certificates in high demand.
