Low Cost Stock Photos replaced by Free Stock Photos

Designers creating websites, apps, and traditional media have long relied on low cost stock photography which provides images licensed by the designers for use in their projects. Low cost stock photos have served as the source for placeholder images used in website landing pages, background images within apps, and visual connections for stories in print and email newsletters. Design teachers use low cost stock photos for Photoshop classes and when teaching other digital design skills.

Versions of Photoshop for iPhone and Android have been released by Adobe in an effort to grow the base of Photoshop and Creative Cloud users. While Photoshop remains the standard for professional image editing, Adobe has yet to capitalize on the significant growth in mobile photography. Apple and Google have widespread use of their photo storage, editing, and sharing apps, Adobe is not seeing significant adoption of their mobile apps. With the release of new versions of image manipulation apps that Adobe has placed into the Photoshop family of products: Photoshop Fix and Photoshop Mix.

Photoshop CC 2015 Book Available

A fully updated Photoshop book has been released by American Graphics Institute. Written by Photoshop expert and American Graphics Institute instructor Jennifer Smith, the book is titled Photoshop Digital Classroom CC 2015 - 2016 edition.  Smith collaborated on this Photoshop book with other instructors from AGI to create an effective learning resource.

Adobe’s version of Photoshop for iPhone, iPad, and Android is known as Photoshop Lightroom. While it carries the Photoshop name, it is a separate product with different capabilities than the standard version of Photoshop, which is why American Graphics Institute offers separate Photoshop courses and Lightroom workshops. To further complicate things, there are now desktop and mobile versions of Photoshop Lightroom, each with different capabilities.

Photoshop CC 2016 New Features and Release Date

For Adobe Photoshop users wondering when Photoshop CC 2016 will be released or what new features are included in Photoshop CC 2016, the wait is over. Photoshop CC 2016 includes a number of new features and the 2016 Photoshop version is part of a larger Creative Cloud 2016 update that Adobe delivered in mid-June of 2016. The 2016 Photoshop updates released in November were given a name from the next year, and are discussed in our Photoshop CC 2017 review and new features.

Excessive Photoshopping Called-out by Pop Star Trainor

This week Massachusetts native Meghan Trainor who won the Best New Artist Grammy award complained of excessive Photoshopping of a music video for her most recent song titled Me Too. The complaints led to the retouched video being removed from circulation and replaced by one that doesn’t include Photoshop-like effects being used on Trainor’s body. The before and after images of Trainor show Photoshop-like effects were used, with her waist being made to appear thinner, her hair adjusted, and her dress smoothed.
